Shaker Mill Books is a must stop for any book bon vivant...the comfortable rural outside hides an eclectic assortment of printed treasures inside!!!
Books, books, ah! Where are we with books in this time where people - passionate people, with wings on their feet - have gone to the mountains & when they come down they will be very, very angry... but the books ... they will still be in West Stockbridge - the very best books, the very best books will be waiting for the real people, sanctifying beauty, as always.
Incredible bookstore!!! We were visiting from NJ and frequent our local thrift stores/library sales for secondhand books, but Shaker Mill Books has been our favorite used book source by far. Everything was in excellent condition with very fair pricing. The store itself was charming, well-organized, and enjoyable just to walk around and browse in. We will be back on our next trip!
The business hours posted on google (and the front door) are incorrect. Don't be fooled by open doors and books outside - they are closed. Don't be dumb like me and drive from far away to visit. You will be politely told to leave.
