Where to start? Doe’s is the reason we drove 5 hours to the Mississippi Delta on my birthday, and I’d make the drive again today. The salad, the boiled shrimp, the tamales were all wonderful. Our porterhouse was perfect and fed 3 of us easily. The fried shrimp, though, was the unexpected star of the show. Get the fried shrimp! Yes, it’s an older establishment and the interior is what it is, but this was one of my favorite dining experiences ever. Be sure to review the menu online before you get there. They had no menus the night that we visited, and I don’t know if they have them regularly or not. I will say, we had at least one of everything, and our bill was very reasonable. It’s not cheap, but I could pay a lot more for a 3# porterhouse. Go! Enjoy! BYOB, if that appeals to you.

I ate here about five years ago before I started doing reviews. Sitting here during a snow storm and it popped into my head. This was about as unique of an experience eating out as I have ever had. The place is old and poorly maintained, one door was kept closed by a steak knife in the door jamb. The steak I had was decent, the chili was underwhelming. My wife had bay scallops and was very disappointed. The server was surly and not very helpful. The wall next to our table had paneling over two peeling layers of wallpaper. I'm glad I went but I would not return.

We enjoyed the 2.5 pound porterhouse. Excellent steak that was perfectly grilled.

They were only open for the tamales, but they were still good. The Stake Grill didn't open until 5 and of course I was there early and stopped on lunch break, for work

Stopped here on our southern roadtrip. It's a simple hole in the wall place, but it's worth the trip. Service was good and the food was excellent. We got the tamales with chili and steaks with fries.
