We went for my daughter’s 4th birthday because she loves seals. Captain Rob is super friendly with a great sense of humor and made us feel welcomed. Boat was sanitized, hand sanitizer available before we boarded, and he wore a mask the whole time. Excellent tour guide with interesting stories and he shared facts about the area and sea life. Highly recommend Blue Claw Boat Tours!

We left a message on their answering machine looking for tour information. By the next day we received a call back with specifics and were able to book without any issues. Captain Rob is friendly, kind, entertaining and full of great stories and information. We saw lots of seals and came really close to them; close enough to hear their snorts and scuffs! Had a great time and worth every penny!

This was the worst hour of our already terrible day. The “captain” verbally berated me until I cried, on my birthday. I asked if since we were outdoors, at least my kids could have the option to pull the mask down and feel the wind, smell the water (6 and 3). He told us before boarding that we could mask up, and he would talk to us, or he could put up plexiglass and not speak to us at all. I spent the last of our vacation money on a sunset cruise, we didn’t bring food because unfortunately I did not realize we could, but had we brought food, then we could take our mask off, “but you didn’t” he snapped. In front of my children, Captain Rob essentially said it was the law, I agreed to it, and if I didn’t understand then that’s not his problem, because I agreed. I simply asked questions because it makes no sense that if I had enough money to bring a birthday dinner; my sons could feel the fresh air on their face; and hear a guided tour. But since we didn’t bring it, we sat in silence, after this man addressed my husband asking what was wrong with me while I sat there crying. I won’t get into why I am in deep grief at the moment, but I will say that this was the only thing I looked forward to in 6 months. My children were scared of this man, and we didn’t get a tour guide because we asked to take a moment or two without our masks, outdoors, in a socially distanced way. I am still crying. This was mortifying, and to Captain Rob, please never speak to anyone that way again. You never know who just miscarried, or whose parent passed away, or maybe even both in the same month of your birthday. Maybe this was the first time this person could afford to take her kids out after being out of work for 6 months. Maybe she has been fighting for her life as well; and maybe your unkindness was the final push, maybe if you realize your actions could have saved or ruined a life, maybe you would’ve chosen kindness. I would ask for my money back, but it’s my moms money and it was a gift, because we nearly cancelled this trip, and the last of my energy was dispelled, in resignation and absolute heartbreak. $425. To sit in a boat and be scolded and told I don’t know how to listen, for what it’s worth, I hold two master degrees, both clinical science degrees, one in pathology and the most recent in bioethics, as a fellowship from Columbia University. I’m not an idiot, but I am human. And this was horrible.

We booked online on a Friday for a Saturday at 12:30 PM. Captain Rob was excellent, friendly, and very knowledgeable. We saw hundreds of seals and were excited to get very close to them. The day was scorching, and the boat has no cover, so wear plenty of sunscreen. Definitely recommend, if you have little ones, they will def. have a lot of fun.

Had an amazing time. It was perfect for our family of 9, including 3 little ones. We got super close to the seals and saw a lot of beautiful homes. Captain Rob was very knowledgeable and friendly. Worth the money for a private tour, we’d do it again in a heartbeat!
