Broad Reach Healthcare

We worked with Broad Reach Hospice after my mother’s cancer had come back quickly and there was nothing they could do. We left the hospital at the end of October and luckily someone referred us to Broad Reach, Dr. Ward, the medical director came to our home and talked with my mother who was dying and not prepared for it. From there they created a hospice plan. In the next few weeks of her life she first got better, even though when we let the hospital they thought it could be days, but because of their excellent care her quality of life improved. The next few weeks the hospice team did everything they could for my mother. They responded to all her needs and concerns. They treated her with respect, dignity and love. They listened to her, gave her honest answers and information and walked her through the process of dying. She loved them and it eased her mind and body. I believe she died as peacefully and with as much acceptance as she could especially because she was not ready to die. They handled all the medical issues without it ever feeling like this was a medical situation. She got to live her days in her home with people who loved her.nnThe hospice team also helped our family. The nurse and aid who came regularly were the kindest, most wonderful people. Full of positive energy and experience.They gave use the information, support and encouragement along the way. While they were there every step of the way, they also gave us the skills and empowered us to be involved with my mothers care during her last days. We didn’t feel like a spectator watching this happen to her, we felt part of it. When she died, I felt I had been through a life exchanging journey that I am forever grateful to Broad Reach for. If we had gone with my mothers original care plan that was suggested, it would have never been as meaningful, and peaceful. I am not sure we would of known there was another option. Dying is inevitable, Broad Reach made it as poignant and peaceful as can be. I can’t say enough about Broad Reach. Thank you.

We just enjoyed a very festive Thanksgiving feast with our 3 senior, loved ones at the Victorian, the assisted living facility associated with Broadreach, making it the perfect time to express how grateful we are to have the Victorian and Liberty Commons available to care for our family members. Navigating the aging process is a daunting task, and we have had nothing but positive experiences at both facilities. Every staff member has been professional, and personable, when addressing our concerns. And, they are never too busy to offer guidance or suggestions to ensure our loved ones comfort and safety. At both of these facilities, our family members are not only cared for, they are cared about.

I always was under the impression that Liberty Commons was the best but I did not find that to be the case! I found that the nursing assistants on the 3-11 and 11-7 shifts could use some training in being nice to the residents and not sarcastic and intimidating! I had one assistant, and i wish I could remember her name, who was kind and cheerful ! She was on the 3-11 shift and I so appreciated her kindness! I was hollered at and reprimanded for being incontinent of urine after having my call light on for over an hour by another assistant ! I was a Nursing supervisor at a Nursing Home in I West Yarmouth for over 18 years! I can’t ever imagine the staff speaking to the residents like that

My family member was admitted to Liberty Commons almost one year ago, unable to walk or use their hands, malnourished, in pain, and ready to give up. My family member is now able to walk, use their hands, has their pain under control, is a healthy weight, and is ready to move into their own home. The incredible commitment, care, and patience of the Liberty Commons team- from CNA's to nurses to therapists to dietary staff to housekeeping- made this miraculous improvement possible. My family member was treated with respect and dignity from the first day until the day of discharge, and I am eternally grateful to Broad Reach Health.

I am a retired RN from Cape Cod Hospital who has needed short term rehab several times(total hip replacements x2/orthopedic foot surgery/congestive heart failure and aortic valve replacement). I strongly recommend Liberty Commons for their outstanding care and compassion and Starbucks Coffee in the lobby!
