I've been at Florida Tech since 2014, starting with my BS in Aviation Management, MSA in Airport Development and now PhD in Aviation Sciences, and there's a plain and simple reason I've stayed on - the feeling of home.nnThe College of Aeronautics at Florida Tech houses some of the best aviation programs from around the world. The professors are excellent, and you gain real industry knowledge, and you'll be ready to step into a job the day after your graduation.nnYes, a school is a business that needs to fund itself, so there are expenses involved in going to Florida Tech, but hey - you get what you pay for! Most negative reviews would generally involve the cost factor, but I can assure you that it is worth every penny to attend Florida Tech.
I took a few online continuing education courses. The courses themselves are fine and easy enough to navigate. However, the system needs some major updates. The user interface is not friendly, and challenging to pick back up where you leave off if you have to break up your coursework (unless you write down where you’re at). Additionally, I needed an extension for one of my courses and the process is such a waste of time. First you have to email them to ask for an extension, then they email you back hours later with a link to enroll, then you have to pay and email them back with your PayPal receipt proof of purchase and wait more time for them to apply the extension to your course so you can access it again. It’s wholly inefficient and aversive.
Continuing Ed course administrators came through for me and provided the needed information.
My daughter is pursuing her bachelors degree in engineering and I am so pleased at how things are going in this very difficult Freshman year with COVID. The communication and approach has been excellent and she has acclimated well to the day to day of college life.
I had a reason to explore the campus of Florida Institute of Technology as about 20 of our freshmen at the Japanese university where I was teaching attended a three-week long language training program at the campus, while they stayed with individual families. My visit was planned long enough in advance, and I received a warm welcome from the university staff and from the faculty and director of the English Language Institute, where our students were studying.nDuring my multi-day stay in Melbourne, I was able to go along to some of their classes and also attend one of their on-campus field trips, in which they visited the department of Aeronautical Sciences. It's a very modern, sprawling campus. As a visitor, I was given a parking pass to either park in the parking structure at the main entrance (see photo) or to use the student parking zones anywhere on campus. Our students who studied at FIT enjoyed their experience at the English Language Institute very much, and I was able to see their final research presentations at the end of their short-term study since I arrived for the last 3 days of their stay.
