Safe, clean and centralized parking. Well lit structure with plenty of parking.

Came in from my home in Virginia Beach to an event in the theater on Granby St. Intended to to stay about an hour. Went to the Freemason Garage first and found it was a flat $5.00, not hourly, so turned around in the garage and left. Came in the York St. Garage, several blocks off Granby. Pulled into the right entrance, tried unsuccessfully to get a ticket to enter- a passerby told me the machine and gate didn't work. Backed out, entered through the left gate. Returned to the lot 55 minutes later and was charged $3.00. Tried to pay with cash and the exit machine wouldn't take bills. Glad I wasn't having dinner over several hours.The parking operation is typical of how Norfolk is run. They wonder why no one wants to come downtown to shop, have a meal, go to a movie or show. Maybe they'll turn Macarthur Mall and some of the closed restaurants into additional parking....just think of the revenue they could generate .
