It’s rare for me to rate a library with 2 stars .nI gave the 2 star rating for its location in an urban setting and for its architectural design . Was quite dissatisfied and disappointed by the customer service desk .nI had to print a document and was more than happy to pay if there was a cost attached to it.nI was treated with hostile response and customer service lady in white and black uniform asked me to show the lease before I could print anything. Never mind the fact that I had a DL and a current library card to confirm my ID . I walked a block down to a print shop and after I told the owner my library visit, I got my docs printed complimentary even though I insisted to pay for the service. Norfolk is a unique and friendly city in VA but the public library isn’t run by the same folks. I hope someone from this library reads this review and retrain the angry people managing the desk that represents the cultural and literary exchange center in a public setting .

A wonderful place for book lovers. They have an amazing selection. Two buildings and 6 floors of quiet, book- filled wonder. There are specific areas for playing at game consoles, and two large computer station areas. The top floor leads out to a room & balcony with seating where art classes are held. On the historic side of the library is an amazing setup for viewing historical photos, row upon row of reference material and a very nice place for sitting down to read or work with selected books. In between the two buildings is an atrium displaying various art. I would almost move to Norfolk just for this library.

One of the most beautiful libraries here in Hampton Roads! I love that even if you are not a resident of the city of Norfolk, you can still come in and enjoy all that the library has to offer.nThere are many floors to explore, with each one offering a variety of things. And - of course - there are books galore! In addition to the written word, the library offers many other amenities, including a little restaurant, kids only area, outside area where you can read or simply relax and take in the city, and meeting space galore.nWe photographed a wedding here and it was truly magical! Especially when we took the bride and groom into the book area to do photos - wow!

Slover is my favorite library! They have everything you could ever think of: 3-d printers, media studio, maker studio, etc. They are operating only by appointment for studios and only the first floor for books due to covid. However, they were so helpful and friendly. If you place a hold online or by phone you can pick up the book at the front desk.
