At the front desk I saw an employee give a bottle of water to a customer for free. Then, when I brought a sandwich to the front desk that was expired I was charged full price (cash$) and was told “it’s probably fine” I had mentioned it to a manager the next day and she said she would refund the amount. This never happened. I felt like my family had been treated differently for some reason

This hotel is amazing. The decor is very upscale. It is a very clean hotel. Workers are always cleaning and vacuuming around the clock. The bar is really great and so is the restaurant. The head chef Baeu is awesome. We were curious about the menu and one of the workers went and got him and he explained his whole menu and breakdown of it. We thought that that was pretty neat. The breakfast is amazing too. I highly recommend purchasing a bottle of the JMU wine! They have a convenience snack store downstairs near the check-in. The indoor pool was really nice. Remember to bring your room key with you when going to the parking garage because you need it to get in and out of the garage. They also had a live band playing music.

The hotel madison was quite a great hotel. The kids enjoyed the rooms even though they were a bit bland in my taste. The lobby was pleasant and I loved the location from the day I came upon the hotel. I would give a 5 of 5 however they messed up my stash rewards points by charging me instead of stash rewards. The guest service agents were very friendly. 4/5

The hotel lobby is very nice but the room not so much. Most of the hand sanitizer stations are empty and all the trash cans in the hallways are full. There are spots on the tile floor and dirty carpet. The room was just plain gross. See pictures for proof.nnAlso the TVs wouldn’t connect to mobile devices. All these problems could have easily been fixed but maintenance left at 8pm. This was a Saturday night too, not an off night. Hope nothing goes wrong after 8!nnUpdate to the reply.nOne bad stay is plenty for us, thanks!

Visually appealing hotel and conference center with a lot to love, but missing some functionality in basic bathroom features. This lack of good User Experience design seems to be a trend with hotels right now, and one that I hope will end soon.nnPros: detached free garage with ample parking and covered walkway to hotel; fantastic mattress (one of the best I’ve slept on); a large room with plenty of space for suitcases and gear; nice lobby area; pool and restaurant. Sound proofing is good: despite having rooms on the street side of the hotel, it was pretty quiet except for some trucks at 4 am. If you’re a light sleeper, be sure to ask for a room on the garage-facing side of the hotel, but we didn’t have too many problems street-side.nnCons: This is nitpicking, but I’m hoping maybe someone will read this and help stop the following trends in modern hotel bathroom design. It’s the little things that make the difference between a Red Roof stay and a really nice stay. This hotel could be in the “really nice” category but isn’t for the following small but obnoxious reasons:n-A large sink with a tiny faucet, so my hands end up brushing against the back of the sink while I wash. Touching the sink while washing my hands always makes me feel like my hands are still dirty, especially if this is after I’ve brushed my teeth. Gross.n-Shower curtain too short for tub wall. Be prepared for water to go everywhere if you take a hot shower.n-No vent in the shower, so steam buildup is pretty bad. I’d expect a red mold problem here in a few years. Weirdly, the vent is located over the toilet, but there doesn’t seem to be an on/off switch for it- maybe it’s hidden?n-Toilet is child-sized. Since I’m very short, that’s fine, but the 6 ft husband was not happy with it.n-No back-lit bathroom light switches. Hope you memorized switch locations before getting up to go at 3am.n-Speaking of late night bathroom visits: in our room, the sink was located in the bedroom, not the very spacious bathroom, so there is no way to wash my hands without waking the husband. Adding another door in front of the sink, or moving the sink inside the bathroom space would have fixed this problem.n-Sheets were rough. It felt like the same material as the comforter/duvet/cover. Maybe they ran out of regular sheets? Really weird. They were clean, though.nnBased on the windows (floor to ceiling for the entire wall, which I really love), I’m wondering if this room used to be part of a conference room that got converted to a suite. It would explain some of the weird use-of-space decisions.nnConclusion: I would sleep here again just for the mattress (we both bring our own pillows, so I can’t speak to the comfort of their pillows). Husband has back problems and this is one of the few hotels with a mattress that doesn’t hurt. It feels a bit firm, but we both slept really well. That’s worth overlooking bathroom annoyances.
