After driving 13 hrs, we were told that we would be unable to stay because we had more than one animal.. we've stayed at numerous Red Roof Inns (and, in fact, seek out Red Roof Inn specifically because of our pets) and this has never been an issue before. Yes, I understand that different locations have different policies. However, why was this not alerted to us when we booked online? Why were we not called? Why did we have to show up and waste our time and have to now try and figure out another place to stay last minute? Incredibly frustrated and, honestly, put a bad taste in my mouth with Red Roof. Probably will be avoiding for a while, unfortunately.
Don't stay here. The negative reviews are too kind. This place epitomizes waste and lack of regulation and oversight. Anyone who visits the property can easily tell this place is just a way to scam both customers and programs. Pictures online are stock photos not actual photos. Highly doubtful that this place has any employees to justify the large estimated payroll figure used to collect ppp funds twice from Carter Bank (public info). With the exception of the owner and one employee, there was no one else and the rooms were horrendously unsanitary. Appears from other reviews they do not have a staff and even have trouble finding clean linen.
Friendly and helpful front desk staff; amazingly comfortable mattresses; and clean and quiet.
Wow! I should've been suspect of a $38 room. Roaches in the shower (but to be fair they were mostly dead), the room smelled like sour mildew with a hint of cat urine, small curly hairs in the sheets, and the coup de grais was bedbugs!!! I found them when inspecting the room in the cornes of the mattress. I went back to the front desk and wanted my money back. The owner yelled at me, refused to refund my money, and said what do I expect for $38. He then told me to get off his property and that he was going to call the police for me disrupting his customers (my car was the only one there other than his). He followed me to my car and kept taking pictures of me and my car and said he was going to give them to the police. I did contact my credit card company and had them remove the charge (thank you Visa).
Thought they might have updated the property or changed their way of operation. The place is the same, no change. Must have been cheaper to change the name of the motel than it is to provide sanitary accommodations. JMU friends do not pay in advance and read reviews under Days Inn Harrisonburg or visit the property before booking.
