Great green space! Beautiful panoramic views from the point looking over the James River. There is also a level 4.5 mile scenic hiking trail.
Almost had whole park to ourselves. One on one lectures, and tutorials, even had question and answer session where the questions got answered. Bravo. Excellent.
Great stop for a short walk (w/dogs) if you need a break from a long drive up/down I-95. Near the 'village' there's a short 5-min walk to an overlook plus a longer out & back trail (behind the visitor center) if you really need to stretch your legs. No restaurant but clean restrooms. There's also a trail near the entrance that leads to the river (might be unmarked but you can clearly see the parking pull-off). In the summer, the end of the riverfront trail is a little crowded with swimmers.
Amazing hands on history lesson for me and my kids. Amazing staff and fun for entire family!!
