Very nice place a little out of the way but it is very worth it. A lot of unique history text about an hour and a half to look at everything closely and read everything and go through it. I did not know that President Lincoln's grandfather in great-grandfather we're from that County in Virginia.

This place is a real gem in a lovely little village. They have good programs for the public and interesting exhibits. Their family history library has computers available with very good Geneology programs one can use. There are knowledgeable helpers available in the library on Saturday. They even have used books for sale and are glad to accept your unneeded books that will help support their programs.

My wife and I had a great time at the Heritage Museum today. We found it very friendly and informative. The staff was fantastic. Cannot wait to return.

Oops! Mixed up my museums/visitor centers for my previous review of The Heritage Museum. ud83dude31nBut, 5 stars still apply. Friendly, helpful staff. Very interesting museum showing the history of the area. We enjoyed the section about Shenandoah Conservatory's beginnings in Dayton. My wife and I both graduated from Shenandoah in Winchester and always heard about Dayton, but had never visited before.nStaff very helpful with recommending places for lunch and things to do while in Dayton.nDayton and The Heritage Museum were worth the side trip during our stay in the Harrisonburg area.
