This was our first trip to Bear Creek Lake. We stayed for 3 nights at Cabin 11 (3bdrm - water view). First off - the cabins are an EXCEPTIONAL value for what you get. Large clean living room with modern comfy furniture. Big, nicely stocked kitchen with all the needed appliances. Our cabin had 2 bathrooms which were really large and clean as well. Not overly fancy, but heat lamps are an added nice touch.nn2 important notes. 1. Linens are not provided due to Covid - bring your own.nn2. The queen bed was the firmest mattress I have ever slept on. Definitely bring a mattress topper with you if you can spare the room.nnYou will thank me later.nnThe cabins have wrap around decks with lots of rocking chairs and end tables -facing the lake. You have a picnic table, and fire ring as well if you want some s'mores action. If it rains - you have an indoor fireplace as well!nnThe lake itself is small but very pretty. They have kayak, canoe and boat rentals daily until about 3pm. There are nice trails to be found. We did the Channel Cat Loop (recommended) and the Lakeside one (a little marshy!).nnIf you are looking for a place to eat nearby, Vito's Italian is pretty good!nnAll the park rangers we encountered were extremely friendly and helpful. They have a nice little gift shop in the park office as well.nnWe will definitely be coming back here!
The cabin was fantastic, wish I had stayed longer! The night sky had the greatest amount of stars I've ever seen, compared to what I'm used to in Northern Virginia.
Bear Creek has always been one of our favorite family parks, we used to go every year with my parents. Peaceful and enlightening!
They have nice trails and a good size lake. Would like to try the fishing. Looks like a good place for family camping.
Nice place to spend a weekend day. Picnic area and boating are nice
