Neat little park with a lot to offer. Small parking lot with space for about 8 cars. Three picnic tables, grills, and bear-proof waste cans are right next to the parking lot.nnThe out and back trail is about two miles round trip. The trail is wide and is an easy trail with no significant elevation changes. Before reaching the river, the trail meanders along a creek with several waterfalls.
Excellent low traffic little section of Mayo River NC State Park near the Virginia border. Nice parking area that will accommodate 10 cars or so. easy access picnic tables (three of them), and a nice network of trails to explore. Plus, a creek! A waterfall!
Totally beautiful in the Fall especially about 1 or 2 hours before sunset about middle to end of October when leaves are most Golden. Tons of Spring flowers too. Leads into Mayo River...wild stretch. Many deer. Great place. No bathroom however so be warned!
It was awesome. Go check it out for yourself.
