This is a nice, quiet 1/4 mile trail through the trees and down to the small river. It's a loop trail and takes you right back to the parking lot. There is a well built boardwalk that lets you walk through an area that looks a little wet sometimes, but you'll stay perfectly dry. Nice trail for kids. Summer is best for all the trees that overhang the path. The Fieldale Park is right next to this trail.

This is a nice little walk, actually two. The long one runs beside the river both where it's paved and then a dirt path well into the woods. In some places on that section you're on the bank fairly high above the river with nice views. The shorter section is before that across the road, and is a quarter mile loop with informational signs about the history of the local textile industry. For instance, did you know movie star and WW II pin-up Betty Gable wore the first pair of nylons made in the Martinsville DuPont plant?
