Reflections Eating Disorders Treatment Center at Dominion

I was discharged from Reflections recently and although I will not lie and say that it was super fun and an amazing experience, because being in treatment and recovering from an ED will never be easy or fun, it was overall positive and the patients and staff are so nice and understanding. If you are seeking help for yourself or a loved one, I could not reccomend this place more. I was supposed to go to an eating disorder residential center called clementine which get five stars, and honestly I think that this treatment center is more effective with the inpatient-PHP program and will help you recover. It won't be easy, but this is the best place to do it. The other reviews talk about Felicia, but she is no longer the director so most of the reviews don't apply anymore. If you are seeking help, you will recover here.

I was inpatient at this facility for two months then continued as PHP. I do not know what I would have done without this amazing experience. I made very good friends with the patients and staff, who were all very welcoming and caring. My therapist was one of the best people I have ever met and helped so much I hope if somebody who reads this gets Madison as their therapist. You can make so many good jokes with the staff members and I still remember a few of the inside jokes. The groups were mainly good but could be focused a little more on eating disorders directly, which by the time I left they had started to work on. The school coordination was good for the most part and I was able to complete most of my work. Some of the staff can be a little harsh at times but do for the best and are still good to bond with. I will miss everyone there so very much, and hope someday that I bump into them. I was sad to have to leave, meaning I would leave behind everything I had made there, but taking what I learned from this experience.

I recently discharged from Reflections and I could not have imagined a more all-encompassing facility to recover from your ED. My therapist, Madison, was open, optimistic, and a safe and reliable person to open up to, who I definitely felt was the best therapist I’ve had experience with so far. Dr. Frenkel, who was my psychiatrist during my time there, was so helpful through focusing on our individual problems and things we wanted to work on in treatment and talking through issues. Jen, who was my dietitian, found a meal plan specifically for you and talked with you through the menus and food. I became friends with all of the staff, who although they have to be strict about rules and are often overwhelmed, were friendly faces to see every day and reliable people to talk to. You’ll find that some of the groups and therapeutic activities may not specifically apply to you, but if you are truly committed to your recovery in treatment, you can find ways that they apply to you and can help you through the difficult times. You are taught more about eating disorders themselves, including side effects, symptoms, and triggers, as well as learn which coping skills work for you during and after treatment. With the inpatient to PHP program, I find that Reflections effectively prepares you for a world outside of treatment and free of your eating disorder. Although the first few days are challenging and overwhelming, you grow more comfortable with the environment and make healthy friendships with people you can comfortably talk about eating disorders with and work through what you’re dealing with.

I have good things and bad things to say about Reflections. Number one, the doctor here was the one who finally put my daughter on the right dosage of medication to overcome her eating disorder and for that I am grateful. I am also grateful that it was here that my daughter connected with a wonderful therapist, Dylan Beckner, whom has since opened her own practice and my daughter still sees today. The worst thing about Reflections is the directer Felicia. For example, Felicia would barge in when the girls were eating and threaten to take away all the phones so they could not have contact with their parents unless they drank all their ensures. This is NOT the way to treat minors or any eating disorder patient. The nurses witnessed this and confirmed to me that this happened. When I confronted Felicia about this she denied it and was rude and unprofessional and hung up on me. This person should not be the director of an eating disorder facility and should not be allowed to interact with the girls there.

I, Rebecca Franch, did PHP here for a few months two years ago. During the entire time, I felt like I was in a dreary prison. I met some good people, but overall it was a depressing experience. I managed to recover from my ED later on, but this place was not helpful in the least. Felicia was rude and condescending, and a lot of the techs didn't really care. Therapists weren't very good, and I didn't get the help I needed. DEFINITELY don't recommend.
