I was admitted here in October of last year, (2020). It was due to an attempt, overall this was alright I felt fine staying there for a while. I was in the Child Unit and assigned to the one of the coldest rooms. We could only have two blankets so I was freezing at night. The nurses can be rude for absolutely no reason, and some of the patients care more about you than the nurses. But I did get the treatment needed and prescribed a different medication, waking up was probably the hardest part as a person with depression. One night my roommate had a behavioral issue which triggered me into a panic attack and I wasn't able to breathe. The nurses forced us to stay in the room my roommate had wrecked due to their outburst. Wasn't the best, one of my worst nights, I tried telling a nurse but they said they couldn't anything about it. However I enjoyed staying there even if it was extremely boring, and we're unable to socialize to our peers across the halls. The food was kind of like school food, not the best but still edible. I would go again.

In regards to the Adolescent Behavioral unit in Falls Church. I would advise against this for anyone looking for help for your child.nMy daughter experienced blatant discrimination based on race/gender identity and religious preferences. I am moving forward with legal steps, But to ALL parents. Please do your research first.

I came to Dominion around September 2020 for an overdose. I was placed in the adolescent unit, and stayed for about five days. I received amazing care while at Dominion. The staff was super friendly, and understanding. Mina, one of the staff members, really helped me through the stay there. The only bad thing was the food, but usually hospital food isn’t the best. If I needed to talk to someone, the staff was there for me. My therapist, Stephanie, was awesome! I’m really glad I got to come here for the help I needed. Because of Dominion, I’ve gotten a lot better mentally. Thank you!

I'm only giving an extra star because a lot of the techs were fantastic.nmy stay at this facility was terrible (Aug-Sep of 2017). i came in with suicidal ideations and they immediately diagnosed me with bipolar disorder because of that. facilities like this hand bipolar diagnosis out to suicidal teenagers like candy. (i found out the next year that i did have a mood disorder but it was major depressive disorder, not bipolar) they kept me for ten days, pumped my tiny teenage body with almost 400mg of seroquel turning me into a zombie. the only worthwhile programs were art therapy, and dual diagnosis (bill is a saint). my therapist there was fine, but i didn't see her often enough. the psychiatrists never listened to a word i said.ni felt good coming out of the facility only because i didn't have to stay there anymore. most days all we'd do was color in our group rooms, gossip, and watch tv. the half hour a day we'd be allowed outside was in a tiny concrete courtyard with a sandpit full of rocks that any patient could easily injure themselves with. hopefully they've improved this facility since my stay but judging by the reviews, I'd guess that nothing has changed. if you are a parent sitting in the er or a room at emergency services with your child right now, if you can help it, do not send your child here. they will come out worse than before they went in.

I’ve been hospitalized in dominion three times, and every occasion but 1 was abysmal. I recommend steering clear of this horrific facility and choosing INOVA or Poplar Springs. They lump all sorts of patients together, including violent ones. I had a bout of nausea and vomiting and was refused treatment. I usually signed myself out instantly after a day or two. Do not send yourself or your kids here, it makes depression worse and leads to nightmares for years to come. Remember, they are a for profit institution, they only care about your money, not you.
