Been in ER for 9-10 hours and just now hearing that the hospital is at capacity. Apparently it's illegal to say it's at capacity so anyone expecting to be seen SHOULD CALL ahead and see if there are any beds available. I'd take my mom elsewhere but they took her xray and I am sure that won't be free!! They won't release her xray so I can take her elsewhere either. Previously I have brought my daughter here: 48 hours in ER and when I asked to go elsewhere they threatened to call CPS if I tried to take her AMA. NEVER AGAIN!! Not for me and not for my family!! (The ones I make choices for)nnI worked here many years ago. I DO understand what it's like on both sides of this. But when you have a family member hurting there is no excuse for it.nnUpdate: This trip turned out to be 11.5 hours in ER waiting room, 24+ hours in that ER bed before a room could come open, and then 5 day stay in hospital. As far as COVID is concerned, in that 11.5 hours I saw NOONE cleaning the waiting room, there were people laying everywhere one fellow had open sores all up his legs and he was laying across a couple seats. The waiting area was gross!! One guy was obviously having a psych issue and had injured himself. He was wiping his bloody hand all over the seats and then hung out at the vending machine asking everyone for spare change. (Myself and 2 others bought him snacks, I did because I wanted to but still....begging in the waiting room? )nThere was originally yellow tape on the chairs to keep 6 feet apart but that had been torn down and everyone was everywhere.nFast forward 1 week: my mom got sick again, I took her to LG and there waiting area is tiny, there was 2 people in it. (Both called in within moments of our arrival) Mom was in a bed in 10-15 minutes of arriving, had all her tests quickly and was fully diagnosed with a treatment plan by the 3 hour mark. We were home with medicine by the 5th hour (arrived at 8p, diagnosed by 11p, pharmacy by about 12a, home by 1a) Not sure what the big difference is....but that will be my choice from now on!!

Would not recommend if your life depended on it. My mom was in the hospital for nearly a week the begging of March and her follow up isn’t until almost the end of April. Not to mention they didn’t give her enough pain medicine to last until then. They told her she’ll need surgery so why is her follow up that far away just to schedule when she’ll get the surgery.

Just wanted to say that I am so happy with this hospital and their staff. My daughter is a student at Roanoke college and she went to the emergency room this morning for severe abdominal pain. We live in NH, 12 hours away and getting a call that your child is at the hospital is extremely scary when you cant be there. She was very scared and the staff made her feel at ease when they were putting in her IV. The Dr took the time to talk with me on the phone and give me updates on what was happening. Thank you for taking such great care of my daughter!

My son was in a car accident, the incident happened after normal hours and every time I call- and I call the hospital main number- it switches to a cell phone of someone at home- the receptionist name was Farrah- she was yelling and rude and told me she was on a cell phone and can’t give me any information- how can I find out about my loved one? I know we are in different times but now a days - u have to wait to find out about what’s going on with your loved ones- no one can answer the phone and give an update or anything- you can’t enter a hospital anymore to make sure someone is ok- it must be someone to call or talk to? Maybe a lawyer?

I would rather drink acid then go to this hospital. I’m epileptic and they nearly overdosed me on my seizure medication. I was in a bad car accident and they were supposed to operate on my knee but they didn’t. (It’s been over a year since my car accident and I’m STILL in a knee brace). When I was in my car accident I literally begged them to not take me here. The neurology unit does not know what they’re doing. I question if anybody in that hospital has an actual medical degree.
