I received outstanding service after having a stroke in February from the nurses, aid, and therapists. The food was good and my room clean. My Speech / Occupational Therapists was kind and Compassion. I would recommend Encompass Heath Rehabilitation.nI Thank God that want, I thank for staff. May God bless you.ud83cudf39ud83dude4fud83cudffc

Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Fredericksburg is plagued with a number of issues resulting in a horrible experience for my mother. Over her two week stay we encountered constant issues and an utter lack of response. As a healthcare worker myself some of these instances are astounding and very alarming to me.nnFirst off my mother was brought in and from the transportation ride was in a lot of pain. The facility was slow to respond and try to offer any kind of assistance. In addition within the first 3-4 days was left for upward of an hour wet from urine. As a CNA this is a major issue as it can lead to skin breakdown. Also for the entirety of her stay there were a number of instances where comments were made about my mother's condition or case which in my opinion could be considered as psychological abuse. As well as the nursing staff just seemed to have a bad attitude towards patients.nnOnce I was made aware of these two issues I contacted the facilities quality care director to voice my concerns. In which she was sympathetic and did have a conversation with my mother to let her voice her concerns. During my conversation I voiced my plans on pacing a camera in my mother's room, in which she was by herself, which the facility was against. “We have to protect the privacy of our staff,” I was told by the director. As a CNA in all of my jobs, no one has been denied the ability to use a camera in their room. To me this shows that the facility knows there are issues and the camera would do nothing but provide legal proof. They choose not to allow cameras in the rooms however have cameras in the halls, nursing station, etc. How is this any different. They are employees of the facility and should be required to do their job. The camera I would have placed would have done nothing more. But we were not allowed to use a camera.nnFollowing the conversation some steps were made to help my mother but as expected they reverted back to the old issues within a matter of 3-4 days. My mother would wait 2-3hr for her medication and her pain mediation, which is prescribed for every 4hr, was put in their system as PRN medication. Resulting in her never getting it on time, causing horrible fluctuations in her pain. Simply put there is a time issue going on in the facility. My mother at one point asked her aide how many patients they had to care for. She was told 20 at one time! That number is astounding!nThe therapy team was much better, but I think I may either not try enough or push too hard. But for the most part they are far more compassionate and caring than the nursing department. This issue that comes is that they fail to communicate with the nursing department, they stay very separated.nnThere were also issues with case management. My mother's case worker was kind and quick to answer questions but when it came to setting up her discharge and at-home situation there were issues. Food was okay in her opinion, but they often messed her order up or even brought her someone else's food. Another issue is on discharge some people are given a party but others are not. Seems as if there is a major issue of back and forth going on.nnIf you have the option of going elsewhere for rehab I would strongly recommend going elsewhere. If you value your family and want them to receive quality compassionate care please avoid Encompass Rehab of Fredericksburg. I know we will never be back. In my mother's words, “I would rather die than see the walls of this place again!”.

Some of the nurses need a better attitude. If they don't like their job they shouldn't be doing this. But on the other hand. The therapist have a smile on there face and are very good.

My father was a patient. I left two messages with staff. Never called me back. My father is incontinent. They did not ensure he was wearing his adult diapers and he urinated himself when he was picked up.

My mother’s nurses did not have the best attitude. And they did not keep up with her care. As a stroke victim, she could not walk, speak, or see. Her right side is unresponsive, so she has to wear diapers, which were never put on correctly and always fell off of her. She also has to wear a brace in bed so her right ankle doesn’t fix a certain way. Her board says that she must wear her brace when she is in bed AT ALL TIMES. The nurses said she had ‘taken it off’. She can’t take it off as she can’t even sit up. They were not up to date with her vitals. Never again.
