On entering this Cemetery one is acutely aware of the tragedy of war and especially that of civil conflict when Americans took up arms against each other. Row upon row of sun bleached and weather beaten grave markers proclaim the sacrifice offered in the carnage of battle. Now in this place of peace no more the muskets crack and the cannons roar in the heat of midday slaughter. Almost defiantly small Confederate flags flutter in the breeze with the surrounding stillness disturbed only by birds twittering their own eulogy to the fallen.

The average soldier doesn’t get in the politics of war usually. Early recruits mostly get to enjoy the cause- the rest go because their country says go. We can’t force modern beliefs and knowledge on these brave men.. in most times I find- people cryin about these men will never measure up to them. Great place to walk and think about the war.

It's really odd to walk through a place like this because you can feel that it's historic, but not for a great reason. All these people died for a cause that was undoubtedly not a good one. It's well kept and pretty to walk through, but it's a reminder that this town benefited from slavery or believed in it so much that hundreds were willing to die defending it.

Well kept but depressing. They gave their lives in defense of an economic system based on the suffering, bondage and blood of other human beings. Similar to German military cemeteries, there is no glory in the cause, but the dead were loved and gave all.

Well kept up. Not particularly interesting unless you are a history buff.
