I spend 6 years in 3 hospitals. The first was LDS hospital. They saved my after a life threatening incident. I was flown in on their helicopter and had immediate surgery despite my body trying to give up a few times they kept me alive. I interacted with dozens of staff. I only had 1 bad experience in 3 years. The other staff were very caring and kind. I will always be grateful for how well I was cared for at LDS hospital.

All the nurses, staff were sooo amazing. My husband had a simple surgery. They sure was very good with us. It is very clean. The security guards at the door were awesome also. Thank you lds for making me and my husband feel comfortable and just so nice

I feel disgusted after a recent experience involving consent or a lack thereof. I showed up at the hospital for surgery in a leg brace, when I woke up from surgery, I had a different brace on. I was never given any information about the brace before or after surgery, I never consented to have a new brace, and I was far from a rational state of mind after surgery to even initiate the discussion which regardless should not be a responsibility on my end. I then got home and removed the brace because it was not my size and could not be adjusted smaller, it only fit slightly initially because it was put on over my thick surgical bandages. Wearing it provides zero stability and so I never did again. After receiving a bill for it, I called the hospital about returning it since I couldn't use it and never consented to having it in the first place. They said to call billing, so I did that and explained the situation. I was told I would be contacted in 7-10 days. That never happened. I called back two weeks later to see what was going on and was told the charges are correct because I took the brace home. Intermountain informs patients to not drive home and to have a ride pick them up after surgery because they are not in their right state of mind, so how can they also conclude that going home in the medical device you woke up in is a version of implied consent? I did not consent, nor could I have. Period. I was never even given the option to not take the brace and believe me if they had discussed this with me, I would not have. So now I'm facing hundreds of dollars extra on my bill for a device I can't use and am told nothing can be done about it. The prices are also inflated several hundred percent. Just another example of that is the screws in my leg, each one costs $180 but I am charged over $650 per screw. Guess I'm screwed right? I hate to have this experience leave such a bitter taste in my mouth for an institution I once regarded to be of high integrity. If you have any option, you can do better for your healthcare elsewhere.

I was on a work trip, and had one night in slc. I ordered an Uber, and came in through the emergency room by myself due to an extreme pain. They gave me moraphine to help fight the pain. I got CT scans, and while waiting for the scans. My pain was coming back so I received another dose of moraphine. About 10 minutes later they told me I had kidney stones, wrote me some prescriptions, handed me some paperwork, and I was discharged. With instructions that I'm not allowed to drive. The time was about 3:30am. So, I walked outside and sat in the dark drugged on moraphine. Struggling to stay awake. I didn't know what to do it was a weekday, and there was no Uber cars out at this time. I finally went inside and asked if they knew a taxi or how I could get back to my hotel. They didn't know how to contact a taxi. I walked back outside, and waited until I could get an Uber. Still struggling to stay awake. It wasn't until the next day I realized how crazy it was that they recklessly discarded a young women who was by herself, drugged, and not familiar with the area. Then, gave her zero resources to go back to her hotel. I wish I could give this hospital less then one star.
