This place is really something, especially in the fall when the salmon are spawning. There are trails through aspens and wetlands, viewing areas with benches and boardwalks that sometimes flood in spring.nnThe Stream Profile chamber is super cool, with dioramas of native wildlife and opportunities to view salmon up close, with lots of interpretive information. There are also rangers who lead groups of kids and lots of interpretive signage on the trail. You might see a bear fishing or a beaver if you're lucky.nnThere is a lot of parking and a nice restroom facility. It's a great place to take kids, but my adult friends were equally stoked the first time I took them there.

This visitor center was fantastic! There was as much information as you could want and the rangers were extremely kind and engaging with both adults and kids. The Rainbow Trail offers a beautiful walk through nature. We were able to push an umbrella stroller with zero issues along the trail. The Stream Profile Chamber, which gives visitors an opportunity to view a section the stream, similar to an aquarium experience, was definitely worth a visit. The kids especially loved seeing the fish and plants up close. Definitely worth a visit as you explore the Lake Tahoe area!

Watching the salmon run was a great experience, many, many thousands of beautiful fish swimming right next to me, and a treasure trove of knowledgeable randers with local experience about the parks made the trips that much more an educational and fun place to visit, the rangers in the store were better than a comedy club.

Beautiful creek! We love to come up to watch the salmon run. If you want to go, the best time of year is the first weekend in October. The visitor's center also does the fish festival that weekend as well.

Awesome little pit stop on the ride around Lake Tahoe. It does a lot to explain how the lake is fed and why the water is so clean. On the trail there is a stop where you go below the surface of the water and can see the trout in their natural habitat. Very glad we stopped!
