I have had a great experience in the Graduate History Program at Providence College. The professors are knowledgeable and approachable. The program is flexible with meeting the needs of the individual student and allowing the individual to pursue a course of study that best suits their needs and interests. This program is great, whether you are fresh out of school pursuing your masters degree or you are a professional trying to advance in your profession.nAs a high school social studies teacher, I have found the courses that I have taken in this program have allowed me to develop professionally and bring back new and fresh material to my students. I have also gained a great perspective and interest in history, overall. As a parent and professional, I have found that class offerings and times are flexible in meeting my needs as a person to be able to balance my life out accordingly.nI sincerely recommend this program to anyone who has an interest in pursuing a graduate degree in history.

It is no exaggeration to say that the Graduate History Program at Providence College changed my life. I arrived in 2005 with an undergraduate degree and an MBA but also with a desire to deepen my knowledge of my lifelong avocation, history. I found a welcoming home where excellent instruction, challenging areas of study, and compassionate staff were eager to help me achieve all my goals. I graduated four years later with a Masters in American and Modern European history and with my researching and writing skills honed to new level. Before graduating, I had one of my papers accepted and published by a peer-reviewed journal. I continued into a doctoral program and received my PhD in 2015. Also since graduating I have published three books focused on twentieth-century military history. Without hesitation I can state that any successes I have achieved since the first day I set foot on campus are a direct result of the training and encouragement I received from the professors and staff in the Masters of History program.

I traveled across the country just to attend this program and benefited from it in more ways than I had anticipated. The professors are truly passionate about helping students reach their goals and have great professional advice. Apart from enhancing my knowledge of history, I gained considerable confidence in my ability as a student and I began to formulate higher goals. Low-cost and high-reward. I recommend this program for any student genuinely interested in immersing themselves in the study of history.

As a recent graduate of Providence College, I only have high praise for the Graduate History Program. As a high school history teacher, and the father of a young daughter, I had reservations about finishing my master’s degree; however, I quickly realized that Providence College was exactly the place I needed to be! The small class size, knowledgeable professors, and affordable cost made it extremely feasible for a student like me. The program is rigorous, yet fair and rewarding. The professors do a first-class job of infusing 21st century skills into the classroom by providing their students with a good mix of lecture, class discussion, and student centered work. This way, class never becomes rote and mundane. Suffice it to say, a highly recommend the Graduate History Program at Providence College. Just do it and enjoy the ride!

My experience with the Graduate Program in History at Providence College was life altering. The greatest strength of this program is the faculty and staff who are beyond generous with their time, resources, and support. I have had countless faculty readily provide letters of recommendation, research suggestions, and opportunities to publish original work.nnThe History Office is always available to help guide you along your course progression and provides countless resources to further your interest in historical studies, often sending out dates for conferences, lectures, and calls for papers on a weekly basis.nnThe content of the program is challenging but the academic environment fosters intellectual thinking on the highest level. This program will reignite your love for learning and your love of history. Professors involved in this program are not only experts in their respective fields, they are also enthusiastic about their course material and will offer engaging readings, writing assignments, and seminar discussions.nnI have never in any form of educational atmosphere met such a generous and supportive staff. As a history teacher and practicing historian, Providence College afforded me the opportunity to grow and develop beyond expectations. It was a transformative experiences, which I am grateful to have had the opportunity to participate in.
