My mother in law found this site through Angie’s list over a year ago. We sent in two rockers one 57 year old and the other 30 years old, they were our childhood rocking chairs. I am very saddened I have received it back yet. She has talked to the guy before about the chairs, and we were told they were still being restored. Honestly, I hate that she may have lost money, but I just want my little rocking chair back!

I sent an email with detailed photos to Melvin inquiring about repairing/replacing a pulley for a table. He told me for sure that was something they could do. I brought the broken pulley in to be looked at and later that week received a call from Melvin saying they could not do it after all and it would need to be ordered from Vandyke's Restorers. I should have picked up my pulleys and walked away at this point. He told me the pulleys he was ordering were far better than the ones I had dropped off. He charged me $127.00 up front saying he had already ordered them. A month goes by and I contacted him and he told me they had been shipped. 2 months go by and still no pulleys. I had to badger him until he started to tell me that they were there for pick up and gave me times to go, but every time I made an effort either no one was there or the pulleys were in his van. When I was finally able to get the pulleys they were the ones on Vandyke's website that are $66.00 and were less substantial than the ones I dropped off. Now he will not return my phone calls or email. I paid twice the amount I would have buying them directly from their website and could have purchased better for a third of the price. I would look elsewhere for furniture repair or parts.

I purchased services for Melvin and Browsers Welcome, through an Angie's List furniture refinishing offer. The offer was for about $200 dollars discount for services. He came to my home and picked up two family chairs in June 2016 and I paid him a $303.00 down payment for the work, that he promised would be completed in 45 days. I also gave him $118 dollars worth of material, that I purchased for the upholstering of both chairs. After repeated phone calls and text messages and lies, about the completion of my work, I filed a complaint with the Attorneys General office, to hopefully get my chairs and money back. I was able to pick up my chairs the other day and absolutely nothing had been done to either chair, over the past year, even though he had repeatedly told me that the chairs were looking great and that I was going to be so pleased with the outcome. He said he had to send the chairs to a woman by the name of April for the final upholstering process, which was again never done. I now have my chairs, untouched from the day that he picked them up, one year ago. I am still trying to get the $303.00 back and also trying to get my material back, which I purchased for $118 dollars. So, needless to say, Melvin took $421 dollars from me, provided no services at all, misled me, with every conversation that we ever had and I know that there are other Angie's List members in the same situation. This man is a complete scammer and you need to go to someone else. Until he makes right, for all the customers that he has scammed through Angie's List, Please do not consider using his services. You will regret your decision.

On January 6, 2017, Mr. Satterfield picked up three pieces of furniture to restore; two of the pieces have sentimental value. To date, I have not been able to get my furniture back. I have called repeatedly, stopped by, mailed letters monthly, and filed a complaint with the Attorney Generals' Office. I understand that Mr. Satterfield had serious medical problems last year, and I truly sympathize. At this point, I'm not concerned about my deposit nor having the furniture refinished. All I want is my furniture back.

Melvin Satterfield and Browsers Welcomed should not be allowed to do business in Columbus at all. He ran an Angie's List ad for decreased fees for furniture refinishing and upholstery needs. He then proceeded to keep money paid to him as down payments and either used my 5 yards of material to upholster his own furniture in his home or sold the material to the lady that helps him do this work. He was ordered by the Attorney General's office to set up payment plans for all of us and repay us for the work not completed and materials not returned. Needless to say, we have not seen one cent of our money. Some customers, to this day, have not received their furniture back either. This business is a complete scam and you are better to go elsewhere. This business does not even deserve one star rating. Do not call them for business.
