Overall: I recommend coming here for service (basically all the stars in the review are for them) and not sales. I have consistently been happy with the kindness and assistance of the service department. These guys are very kind and there to please; certainly take your car here for upkeep. The waiting area is much nicer since the dealership was remodeled (don’t expect any frills, but there is a nice coffee machine). We have two Mazda’s and one of them we got from here, the other in Orem. I haven’t been impressed with the sales experience in any Mazda dealerships (we worked with the others throughout Utah when shopping around), so I don’t know how much the experience was reflective of this location alone, but I’ll tell you it was not good.

I've purchased a few vehicles from this dealer and I'm always treated very well. The sales team doesn't push or pressure you into buying from them or buying things you don't need. The service team has always been helpful and nice to work with as well.

I found a used Ford truck at the Southtowne Dealership after a month of online searching that finally suited my needs. Sandy, UT is a long ways away from my home, but after hearing about how great the truck was from the dealership and looking over specs and pictures, I put money down sight unseen. I was in contact with Evan Lucas everyday for a week, getting the contracts printed up (which were usually wrong with some suspicious fees) and figuring out financing. My wife and I both took off of work, put our daughter in daycare, and woke up at 3am to start the long drive to Sandy (7 hours away), but very excited to pick up this truck that was perfect for us. When we showed up at 10:30 am, the contract was not fixed, the financing was not in order, and the truck wasn’t detailed, although they knew well in advance what day and time we would be there. I brushed it off because I was just happy about jumping into my new ride. Before we signed contracts, I asked for a test drive. Immediately upon opening the door to my (almost) new truck, the smell of stale cigarette smoke wafted over my wife and I. I jumped in and drove it about 500 yards before stopping, getting out and taking a smell of the upholstery. We immediately went back to the dealership to confront their dishonesty and lack of forthcomingness about the cigarette smoke. We were greeted with phrases like “oh, it smells like smoke? We didn’t know it was a smoker.” And “sorry there’s nothing we can do.”, “it doesn’t smell like smoke to me.” Displaying their true used car salesmen tactics and flat dishonesty. Evan Lucas cowered out of the situation, immediately calling for his manager to deal with it, and avoiding me the rest of the time we were at the dealership. I talked to the manager and the general manager, and the general manager told me that “I didn’t ask if it was from a smoker or not”, also displaying their willingness to screw people over at any corner. 17 hour day, just to walk away with nothing but a gut ache, and a lack of faith in dealerships (and people) as a whole, especially Southtowne Mazda. I figured that when I was bringing over $30K in cash to buy my first vehicle from a dealership, I was going to be treated honestly, fairly and justly but it was the complete opposite. The manger Mike was respectful, apologetic and willing to help in whatever way he could. The rest of the clowns working there, would be better suited for a circus. I would never buy a vehicle from Southtowne Mazda and I highly recommend you do not either. Look for a private seller, someone who has a conscience, and someone that will be honest with you because you will not find it here.

We bought a car we had previously leased from them and you would have thought this was the first time they ever did this sort of paperwork. Took them FOUR HOURS and they still screwed it up. They waited until 4 days before our temporary license plates expired to tell us that they didn’t have us complete all of the necessary paperwork and that they never submitted it to get our plates. They sat on this information for over a month before we had to go back in to sign more papers. Now we’ll have to go back yet again to get new temporary plates unless they actually do something right and put a rush order on them. Do yourself a favor and go buy your Mazda from a dealership that actually knows what they’re doing.
