Downtown Charlie's

My sister has been recommending Downtown Charlie's to me for months and I'm glad I finally gave it a try. Small place but the food is fresh and delicious. Great customer service. Even got a bit of entertainment today by witnessing a super obnoxious customer who was being rude and disruptive get escorted out of the restaurant. The staff handled it so well. All in all highly recommend and will be returning.

Dined here for the first time today. Quaint place in downtown Clawson. Small dining room. Our waitress was very polite and nice. The food was good but one negative would be the wait time of 45 minutes , very small crowd in dining room. Kitchen looked to be very small and the staff was bumping into each other. I hope this place can expand , I would return if they expanded.nAlso , their outdoor patio was lacking. Metal chairs outside with no cushion , hard as a rock and cold as a rock especially for outdoor dining.

Sadly disappointing. We ate here a few months ago back when it was 50% capacity and left a rave review as to how good it was. Went today (February 14, 2021) and unfortunately the service was horrible and food was not even close to good. Part of the problem seems to be the restaurant is prioritizing carry-out over dine in and the dine in is clearly suffering for it. The restaurant is clearly running short-staffed and it shows.nnWe came in around 1pm after a half hour wait to come in be seated - which is not a problem and understandable under the 25% capacity rule.nnBut, what happened next was not acceptable - after being seated it took over 5 minutes and asking to get a menu, then after ordering it took 15 minutes to get a hot water with lemon and 20 minutes to get a coffee to the table that had been ordered. Coffee arrived black without any offer of cream or anything. Food took 45 minutes from ordering to arrive and it arrived lukewarm with no explanation nor apology for the delay. During that time lots of carry out was going out the door.nnWhen the food finally arrived, it was sub-par. Most notably the hash browns were not brown but completely white - which is the first time I've seen hash browns served like that at a restaurant - it looks like they were simply left to defrost and then put on a plate. The menu stated the Master Chief came with 3 eggs - but only two arrived on the plate. Everything was lukewarm and mediocre at best and not worth a 45 minute wait on top of the acceptable 30 to be seated in the first place, and not what it should have been, especially as compared to a few months ago.nnIn short, it was not an enjoyable visit and incredibly disappointing after such a great experience on our earlier visit. I hope that they regain their stride and quality in time, but for now I cannot recommend Downtown Charlie's for dining in.

I’m disappointed because I’d read good things about this place. We were seated at the patio which is nice but only one of two outdoor heaters were working so it was chilly. I ordered a hot chocolate which they were out of. Then we waited 45+ minutes for our food. To top it off I ordered chicken and waffles; my waffle was burnt to a crisp and the chicken was bland. This plate was $14! To try and make it better, I wanted to ask for a side of butter or the hot sauce but the waitress came to our table a total of 3 times in 1.5 hours. Not worth it at all. If you do go, the omelette is the best value.

This place is such a cozy little brunch nook! You feel right at home with the friendly staff and delicious comfort food!! Every dish I've eaten has had me coming back for more, definitely worth a try! ❤ufe0f
