I am currently a freshmen, and the education is challenging but easily achievable because the professors care. It is also extremely affordable compared to other higher education institutions.

Great school. Nice city campus. 10/10 recommend.

The ridiculous runaround between the registrar, admissions and the department of transfer affairs is enough to steer anyone clear of this place. Do yourself a favor and seek an institution with a better sense of timeliness, organization and concern for students and prospective students.

This is a giant warning to anyone seeking to pursue Computer Science or Information Technology. Almost every computer science assignment is needlessly confusing. You are going to learn more from Youtube and StackOverflow. Some of the IT classes are OK, but only two of my classes from my entire degree program have aided me in the work I do. If you want to go down the path of tech in Maine (and stuck here) I recommend doing community college, and then transfer to a much better university out of state. The bureaucracy of USM is thick. It's probably the worst in the university in the state. They use tax money on the wrong things.

I find the low scores interesting because you are essentially rating yourself. If you have any reference at all it is because you had an experience at another school that you had an obvious reason to transfer from. This school is ripe to provide a student with exactly what they work toward. The administration is very accommodating and the professors provide the students with the opportunity to think for themselves. The core requirements promote a well rounded student who can think critically and make decisions based on that judgment. I would highly recommend this school for traditional as well as non traditional students. This review is provided by a non-traditional student who went full-time and graduated.
