On Wed Aug 5th went to the VA at 144 Fore ST Portland ME to get a new VA ID card. My old plastic card issued in 1969 was worn and in pieces.nVA clerk at front desk wanted TWO gov'd ID's. All I had was a drivers license, old broken plastic VA ID card and letters with VA letterhead addressed to me.nVA clerk wanted drivers lic, social card and or passport. I lost ss card and did not have a passport.nSO I went and got my DD214, discharge papers from Marine Corp, certs. of medals issued to me, newspaper clippings with my name and picture, old plastic VA card, and numerous VA correspondence to me. VA clerk would not accept these. I was injured on my second tour in Vietnam.nAll I wanted was a replacement VA card, no treatment, just a replacement card.nI GOT NOTHING!
