I slowed down to match the speed limit at the first 35 mph sign and rode pass the police officer after coming off the 55 mph two lane road when entering this town. The officer waited until I reached the other 55 mph sign (I took pictures) at the end of their town to pull me over with claims that I was going 21-25 not over the speed limit. I've never had a speeding ticket in almost 20 years of driving which includes road trips to small towns like this that are 5 hours away from my home on a regular basis. Please avoid this town altogether especially if African American. I attempted to fight this ticket but didn't have the time off at my job required to see this through which is what they rely on to fuel their economic system. When I went to court, I saw nothing but melanated people in the court room. My next date was to be rescheduled and the court never followed through on this so I'm stuck with an illegal guilty conviction on my perfect driving record all because I drove through a small hick town to visit a relative near southern Illinois. That was my first and last time in that area.
