Never had an issue. Small town. Quit. Low taxes. Good schools. Very Safe. Close to everything. If you are looking to live more on a slow paste way wood dale it is! Its deff not Elmhurst but we are right next door.

I would seriously consider moving to another town rather than ever telling anyone to live here. We own a property in Royal Oaks, which has side yards. I filed a permit for a pool that was denied, because Wood Dale does not allow pools on the side of the house (mind you its secluded and it would be fenced). However, I just went for a walk and found that five of my neighbors have pools on the side of the house (and don't worry, I took pictures to prove that). I understand that cities have rules and requirements. However, even while filing for the permit, I had to photocopy the entire pool manufacture's instruction manual (50+ pages). As if it weren't bad enough that the schools around here are pretty bad, the village is equally as bad trying to micromanage everything you do with your property. I'm not the only one who has had trouble with the village either. Many of my neighbors have also had issues with getting permits approved. I would strongly recommend not living in Wood Dale.

Consider another town when deciding on where to live! Had issues with both neighbors on each side, one had no permits and his house was on fire the other neighbor had built an addition to his house and had nothing but concrete prior to the addition, so now all of his rain water comes into my yard and has flooded my basement! In all the years I’ve lived here never did I have flooding! Not sure how that permit was approved!!! When calling the village inspector I was told he only works part time and that this was not an issue for him but for the police department, I called the police non emergency number left a message months ago and no ones been out “to investigate” funny because this really is an inspectors job not an officers!!! We’re all truly disappointed in the lack of services this administration provides! Needless to say my fiancé and I will be leaving Wood Dale soon enough and moving to a different suburb!
