Cope Marine-O'Fallon

Although we’ve lived in Southern Illinois for 18 years I’d never visited Cope Marine until today. I wanted to pick up a part for our boat so it would be on the boat tomorrow and there was no way that Amazon could do an overnight delivery. Not a single marine or sporting good store in Carbondale, Marion or Mount Vernon had what I needed but Cope had it in stock. The nice lady who answered the phone said she would put my name on one and hold it behind the counter for me until I arrived even though I wouldn’t get there until 5:00 PM.nnIf you’ve never visited this store it is an eye-opener. It is like a slightly smaller version of Bass Pro Shops but for boats and marine items only. Prices are amazingly competitive, I priced checked a number of items and they were lower than Amazon on everyone.nnDon’t go there unless you have at least an hour to spend as it takes that long to browse the isles and look at just a few of the thousands of items they have in stock.nnGreat selection, low prices, friendly people, not much else you can ask for from any store. Highly recommend.

I am a relatively new, first time boat owner. The ignition module went out in my boat motor. I went to Cope Marine & inquired if they could install a new one for me. They advised me that they would not work on my motor, due to its age, but offered to sell me the part. I purchased the module from their parts department for almost $300. I had a mechanic I know install it for me. I still couldn’t get the motor running right & finally took it to another shop. They advised me that the module I purchased from Cope was faulty. They replaced the new module & now the motor runs fine.nI returned the faulty module to Cope & was told that since they did not install it they may not warranty it. I explained that I attempted to have them install it, but they were unwilling . He then made a copy of my receipt & stated he would contact his supplier & let me know something within a few days. I waited about a week & had not heard back from him, so I called him. I was told that he had not had time to contact the supplier. I asked for the suppliers contact info & he refused to give it to me. He told me he would call me back as soon as he talked to them. It has been several months & he still hasn’t contacted me. I feel like I was ripped off by them. They sold me a $300 part that they were not willing to install & would not warranty it because they didn’t install it. Then lied to me about contacting the supplier & getting back with me. Worst customer service ever. They have lost all my future business.

Nice and friendly with no pressure to buy

Very impressed with the staff and knowledge they had. Very friendly. We just picked up some equipment for tubing but they were fantastic. Highly recommend Cope Marine-Ofallon.

Great service, products, and staff. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff. We just had our boat in for some repairs. Shane and staff went above and beyond making our nearly 20 year old boat look brand new again. I’d highly recommend shopping here for a new boat or having your boat serviced.
