Great used bookstore. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
This is a fun find in small-town Central/Southern Illinois. I enjoyed looking at their large selection of WWI and WWII history books. A nice, friendly atmosphere is present in the Virden store. The owners know the history of their buildings and the surrounding ones as well. It’s worth a day trip from the St. Louis area. I’m looking forward to going back.
Best used book store ever.
Books on the Square is amazing. I just happen to have stumbled upon it via a net search. I was looking for an unusual Illinois historical book which had its ISBN switched with an off topic paperback. Five book and two puzzle returns later, I called the Virden store. The owner was very familiar with the book straight away. She verified that it was in stock (in her hand) and shipped it to me straight away...it arrived this morning. Super book, super condition, super customer service. I will most definitely buy direct from this store again
The staff is always super friendly and helpful and the selection is amazing! You can find one of a kind books here. It's a treasure trove, honestly!
