The employees I have talked with at the Quincy, IL office have been friendly, professional and very helpful. My advice is to call the local office and not the national customer service number. The customer service at the national level is burdensome trying to get the correct information you need. The local office seems willing to go above and beyond to provide you with informative responses.

I have spoke over the phone to the same male 2 different occasions in the Quincy il now and he is the most unhelpful, disrespectful, unmannered person I’ve ever met in my life super disrespectful with his tone and just overall useless wouldn’t let me speak to another person when I got tired of going back and forth with him just to get a answer to my question

The Employee that approved my disability benefits needed a place to send them. I gave her the information of a bank account that my GIRLFRIEND and I shared. That female employee decided to reveal when I had her on speakerphone that there was a history of a lot of money in that account. This was an invasion of privacy on a state level. Always use a FAX when Communicating with state agencies or registered mail with return receipt mail through UPS. Restricted mail to a decision maker in the organization would me best and DOING a FOIA on those communications when the time is right.

Employees have always been friendly and professional.nnWhen I was in SSA one week ago I talked to a lady about applying for benefits. She explained how it would be calculated. I repeated back to her what she had told me and she agreed I had it correct. Today I went back and, after a 2 hour wait, learned everything she told me was incorrect. I am glad I hadn't applied for benefits. I would be stuck forever, in a low paying Social Security check.nnMy best advice is..1) get the name of the person you talk to, 2) go back several times and , if you can, talk to different people.
