great place beautiful
Beautiful state park it is currently closed however in summertime hopefully will be reopened and cleaned up to its natural self. Long time visitor and always make a point to visit Palisades a must do! Highly recommend
We did not even spend the whole night we left half way through because there were so many raccoons!!! The park itself was quite nice. But watch out after the sun goes down! We were eating supper inside our screen tent when a couple of raccoons started approaching us we were able to scare them away and we cleaned everything up and put all the food and such inside our car but not a few minutes went by that they came back and they were almost like growling at us and my kids were so terrified we jumped in the car then after we were sitting in the car we noticed another group of them crawling around our camp site they were not even scared of anything and we could not get them to leave our tent area so finally after 30 minutes of watching them crawl around our site and not going away we decided we had to find a hotel as I was not going to chance finding one of those things inside our sleeping tent!
Beautiful wooded park with good hiking trails adjacent to the Cedar River and bluffs on the other side of the river.nnSpent three nights at the park campground with electric hook-up. Sites are on a relatively small lot size, gravel pad and back-in driveway. Ours was graded with a slight incline but we were able to fit our 18 foot trailer and vehicle on the site along with a dining shelter. There is one main bathhouse and restroom facility which was impeccably clean and well maintained. The campground hosts were attentive to incoming registered guest traffic and made rounds regularly to check on sites and campers. DNR park rangers made regular rounds on foot and in vehicles as well. Wide range of camper demographics with families, groups and seniors, all abiding by park rules. Great place to camp, visit and enjoy the outdoors.
Sad that we are having such beautiful weather and can't use the park because the state won't provide funding for it to be cleaned up.
