This is a cool place! You pay an entry fee to drive in, and then you can wander around the fort at your leisure. The site is dog-friendly. Our pup loved the beach and was even permitted to enter the museum. My kids loved it. There are no picnic tables in the park-- which is a bummer. The bathrooms were decently clean. It's worth checking out. Keep in mind, the beaches still haven't been cleaned up from the hurricane, so watch for screws and nails.

Very cool fort to explore, I'm great shape , especially since it was built in 1833. It is dog friendly, I clouding the fort and the beach. The bay side beach has lots of debris, more of a good walk than somewhere to swim. The gulf side beach is great for swimming but not all of the gulf side is dog friendly.

If you're a military history fan, this place is fascinating! We had a great time learning and being able to see what it must have been like back then. There's also spectacular views of the ocean all around you. The staff are just amazing, too!

Such an amazing historical location. The derailed history of the fort from it's build to eventual deactivation is stunning. Having a self guided tour was amazing. We were able to spend hours in awe marveling at the architectural design of the brickwork. Don't miss listening to the soldier and the ghost that haunts these grounds.

I'm from the area so I'm a little biased. Car load of 5 was $25. Souvenirs available. It's a great way to understand the times surrounding those conflicts. Seems that they have opened up some areas that were off limits in the past. Always enjoy visiting and showing new folks.
