Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge

It's trails that go through nature. There are signs describing plants you see along the way.nnWe hiked through to the gulf, it took about 45 minutes of casual walking, but the views along the way are worth it. Nothing awesome or anything, but still good.

We walked the Gator trail. The trail stopped near the lake where the boardwalk was closed. Unable to walk the Centenial trail as it was closed too. We walked about 1.5 miles total. I would suggest waiting until the park is completely open before heading out there. If you do go the trails are sand, so select your shoes wisely.

We went early and it was as if we had our own private refuge. Beautiful nature place. 3 miles of private and secluded beach!

The people complaining about the restroom failed to include a picture of the pit toilet leaning sideways it of the ground due to damage from Hurricane Sally. It’s BROKEN.nThe boardwalks are damaged from the storm as well.nPlan your trip. Don’t expect to go on a hike and find a Starbucks along the trail.nThere ARE parking areas at EVERY trail head.nAnd yes the visitor center is closed because the government has not allowed it to open.

Trails are open, even when the refuge center isn't. It's a fun little walk. My kids loved looking for frogs in the swamp. There are crabs in the water by the bird watching outbuilding.
