Dr. Manuel Carcelen has been my pulmonary doctor for several years. He has always answered any questions I might have and takes the time to make sure that I understand everything before I leave. I have also been treated by Drs. Roxanna Carcelen and Michael Connelly while I was hospitalized at Shelby Hospital. They were also very helpful and patient. Nurses Courtney and Brooke (and the rest I'm sure) are very professional and helpful. And Angel and all of the ladies and gentlemen that work in the office have always been great! Sometimes your appointment might take a little while but, hey it's a doctor's office!nnI recommend this practice to anyone needing pulmonary care.

I have a mixed review for this one. I had a PFT done at the hospital and Dr. Connelly read it. Well I had an old chart with them and they combined them. They filed the wrong insurance originally and I didn't realize it. I didn't receive any statements from them. They say they sent them and I am not disputing that all I know is I didn't receive any. I was going through a lot of testing with the cardiologist, I ended up having open heart surgery and moving so anything is possible. Anyway they turned the bill over to collections. I didn't receive a statement from them either. However, I received a recorded phone call and called them back immediately. The lady I tried to talk to was very rude. I told her that Blue Cross said they had not received a claim. She told me that wasn't true in a very snotty tone. I told her all I could say is what the insurance company told me. She just kept telling me what I was saying was not true. Then the insurance company called Pulmonary Medicine Associates billing office and gave them the correct information to file under. I guess when they grabbed the old chart, they kept information from prior to this. They say they never received the correct information; however, the hospital got paid and the office visit I had with Dr. Denham got paid. When I called them back the collection agency said I would just have to talk to the billing office. I called the billing office and got Rebecca. I explained that the collection agency told me to call them because they couldn't do anything about it. Rebecca said that's not what she heard. She told me that she was on the phone every time I talked to the collection agency. I know she was once but not the last time unless she just stayed on the phone constantly so I tried explaining the situation and that I didn't receive the statements. It was obvious when I got on the phone with her that she didn't want to talk to me to begin with. She told me she wasn't talking to me about it and hung up. Therefore at this point, I sure hope the insurance pays it all because I will not talk to the collection agency or Rebecca again just to be treated like some criminal. I will say I really liked Dr. Amanda Denham when I saw her in the office. So as long as you don't have to deal with the billing office, you are good.
