Zen Mountain Retreat

It was quiet, lots of animals, no bears, but they were not aggressive in the first place so it's not a concern.nnPlace was clean and very well maintained. Sign the guest book.nnGo hiking, don't sit in the house all weekend. The area around here is very nice, but rustic and the people are proud, HARD working people with a good moral compass. Respectful, kind and willing to go a little further to make sure you know how to get where you wanted to.nnAt night, right as the sun sets, take a flash light onto the back porch and read a book. Be quiet, just sit and listen. You hear all that nothing? Isn't it nice?nnNot long after you sit down, the forest comes alive, and deer begin walking no more than 15 feet away from the house all through the night. Occasionally shining the light down and catching glowing eyes staring back at you.nnMy favorite thing I recall, was my son and I just walking with flashlights down the street at around 1 in the morning, just out for a hike. We walked a mile and were confronted with all kinds of animals. It was an amazing feeling telling yourself to continue going not knowing what staring back at you. But it was great for character building.nnThe other amazing thing to do is drive around at night, slow, real slow because the roads are nuts out there. But late at night you take a flash light and stop on the side of the road. You roll your window down and shine the flashlight out and it is hundreds of reflecting deer eyes staring back at you. Truly an amazing sight.nnI can see why the founding fathers fell so madly in love with america, the countryside here is amazingly beautiful. I am lucky to see this place as it is.
