Pikeside United Methodist Church

Twice a year they have a big yard sale we like to attend. We can find some good deals plus I always enjoy getting some homemade foods. They do many things for the community along with free meals for those in need. Thank You to the people of this church.

1st Friday drive-thru is amazing. Yum! Don’t have to get out of the car. Hot dinner to take home and start the weekend with a smile.

I’m not one to rock the boat, however, a good friend of mine shared the experience that she had. I understand this is just one side of the story but I know she isn’t one to exaggerate. Given the information that she shared I am APPALLED at your church. Being a Christian most of my life I am so sad to hear about such lack of love and leadership. Jesus preached LOVE. My friend has gone through so much and her family has been going through the hardest time of their lives. The children especially have gone through a lot of change in a short amount of time. After being assured repeatedly by your pastor that their sports program would be able to handle her children, even though some of them had special needs and are dealing with a lot emotionally , she decided to take them. When she came to pick them up from camp she was told how extremely horrible her children were and how badly they behaved and didn’t follow directions and the person repeated it four times.She was then told to decide if she wanted to bring them back, which meant obviously, don’t bring them back. After reaching out to the pastor about the situation and apologizing for her kiddos, she received a response saying thanks for the feedback and have a blessed day. What kind of a response is that. What this is saying now coming full circle is :n1.) children with special needs are not invited to your church as you are untrained and unwilling to work with them and show patience and understanding.n2.) The mother was never even called. IF the behaviors were that extremely horrible WHY WASN’T SHE NOTIFIED !?! And also why aren’t you willing to work with the mother to help their family cope through this very difficult time?n3.) There should have absolutely been an apology of some sort because the way it was handled was out of anger not love.n4.) The person who pounced on her as she got there should never work with children.n5.) If I were not a Christian and had her experience I would NEVER step foot in a church again.nnLast thing I will say is I truly hope you reflect on how to love God’s people better because only loving the perfect Christians is not what Christ called us to do.
