One of my favorite museums. Admission was free for the whole thing including the advertised exhibits which was a real treat. Great place for a classy budget friendly date. The renovation looks fabulous and the staff at the information desk were so helpful and pleasant last time I visited. The Remington collection there is a must see. It’s best to visit on a nice day so you can enjoy the gorgeous outdoor landscaping as you walk to and from.
A little obnoxious- I was asked to take my backpack off in the middle of enjoying a piece of art that I was extremely interested in. Mind you my backpack is the size of a lunchbox and the place is spacious. Before entering the museum I read that all bags were subject to being looked at which I was fine with. What I didn't see was a sign informing me to not bring backpacks in. Its great that the entry is free and the art in the place is nice. Its also well kept and the workers have great information about the work. I didn't enjoy being pointed out among my friends and made to feel uncomfortable. The neighboring museums never said a word about my backpack either so it just threw off the experience.
Absolutely great! A panoramic of American art. Such a relaxing setting. And free entrance! A great activity with family or friends. Real close to Stockyards for dinner afterwards!
Lovely.
