Social Security Administration - Phone Service Only

Negative 10!!! I applied for a name change 12/1/2020. Received all my documentation back along with a standard letter that I would receive my card separately. Called in Feb checking status on my name change and was told it was pending. Called a month later only to find out it was never processed, I was told to resubmit my documents along with a note explaining what happened to expediate the process. Received my documents in 2 weeks along with the same standard letter. Called a couple weeks later and was told it was processed, the card went out the previous Friday. Mail can take 1-2 weeks. Waited 2 weeks, called again to find out the documents were scanned but hadn’t been processed. A continuous stream of excuses about the office process and it time to process and to wait another several weeks. Then she hung up on me. Wow! Called right back, got another person, he proceeded to tell me the same thing and threw in it’s a first come first serve basis. I started 12/1/2020. Today is 3/31/2021. I asked to talk to a manager, he told me the manager would just tell me the same thing. Repeated it when I told him I wanted to talk to him anyway, I finally told him I would feel better talking to him regardless. The manager called me, couldn’t have been nicer, acknowledged my frustration, told me I’ve waited enough so he processed my name change in 10 minutes. Yep...10 minutes. I checked my social security account this evening and I almost fainted ... my name is updated.nObviously working from home allows employees to make excuses NOT to work. Very sad times!nI suggest going to another office.

This was an unexpectedly pleasant experience. The wait was a bit long, but you were greeted by a friendly and very professional police officer who helped you figure out what help you needed and sign in to wait. The lovely employee who helped me was a total professional- helpful with every step, knowledgable ,friendly and patient. The whole process was way less painful than I expected. I think more employees would speed things up, but those working were efficient and knew all the answers, and moved things along as fast as they could. Just go at a time when it is not too busy and still be prepared to wait a bit.

Very few people waiting. But almost nothing was moving. I was there a half hour and only one person was called up.I left without accomplishing my business because of a previous appointment. This is the amazing part: Most of the windows where the employees should be working were empty. Nobody there. It's a clean, comfortable, modern facility. They just need a complete staff to handle the business. Our government at work...occasionally.

One of the best govement office I’ve ever been to. Five stars for the security. He is super helpful and welcoming. Same stars for the office staffs too.
