I love the splendor of this magnificent synagogue, that I haven't been to since I was a child. I know that it was the congregation to which both my great-Grandfather Benjamin Cohen and my Grandfather Hyman Samuel Cohen belonged after their move to New Orleans from bouncing between Rockaway and Far Rockaway from the 1910's to the 1940's (after the death of my Great-Grandmother Pauline Cohen somewhere in Queens County, NY circa 1937) belonging until both my Grandfather (9/10/1912- May, 30th, 1957), and my great-Grandfather passed (3/24/1884 - late 1960)n. Pauline and Benjamin also had a daughter named Irene, 1911-2005, who had children, that I would love to connect with. So sad, our pinched Ashkenazi family lines, whether or not caused by the shoah.

Temple Sinai has a reputation as welcoming all faiths and members of the community. I have visited on various occasions and found this to me true. Although this time, I was there for the memorial service for a friend, the environment remains the same. Temple Sinai is a blessing to the community.

I was warmly welcomed by the members of this wonderful community when I attended during the Holy Days while away from home. This synagogue is so beautiful and both the rabbi and the cantor dynamic. I will attend when I return to New Orleans.
