Shah Sweta MD

Dr. Shah is the only doctor I’m pretty excited to go to and here’s why. When I first started college I began getting hive outbreaks, so my mom had set me up with an allergist elsewhere in Hammond. This allergist asked only basic questions. (I.e. have we switched detergents? Do I eat something specific?) He told me he didn’t know what was causing my hives and sent me to have a blood test. After I did the blood test, someone from his office called and told me the results but not a method of management, and another consult with him was not suggested or scheduled. Since one of my biggest allergens is dust, I assumed I would have gotten some suggestion or consult on how to proceed but none was given. I waited a year until my mom had suggested Dr.Shah to me. I was kind of skeptical at first since my last allergist appointment had gone so poorly. But Even from the first consult, Dr. Shah has been so informative, caring, and determined to help me find some relief and answers. From the very beginning she had a game plan for me going from where we were at the moment to many steps into the future. She’s always willing and able to explain what’s going on and what my symptoms are showing and why she wants to do something. She suggests how I can improve my day to day feeling by small changes to the house and my lifestyle. She addresses all my questions completely. I truly feel like she cares and wants to, as she says, “treat the problem, not the symptoms.” I cannot gush enough about how wonderful of a doctor she is. After two years and many hive outbreaks, I finally feel like I will find some actual relief through her guidance.
