As a member of the SAR I spent three days in the library researching my extended family. Joe Hardesty, Library Director, has amassed a splendid collection that is much deeper than I thought. Brian Christensen gave me a thorough tour of the stacks, which I took advantage of. He also provides some key tips for my research. Brendan Potter, Staff Genealogist did an excellent job with suggestions for getting through some brick walls I have. And in the process of being here, I learned that the library is also open to the public, not just SAR members. Over the span of three days I saw numerous people visit the library and the staff always did a thorough job of understanding their goals and getting them oriented.
I have been to the library quite a few times and the staff is always helpful. Plenty of old and rare books that you probably won’t find elsewhere. Even if you don’t have an ancestor that served in the revolution, it is a great resource for genealogy. The only thing I wish they would change is their hours, so I could visit after work or on weekends.
