I have been dreaming of becoming a permanent make up artist but was discouraged after taking a couple of classes from different instructors. The previous classes were not thorough, honest, nor hands on but after attending Melba’s class. I can say I feel confident in starting my OWN business in permanent make up. Melba is welcoming, professional, and an expert at what she does. She takes her time to break everything down, is open arms to your concerns/challenges, and guides you to success. There rarely is a permanent make up training where you’re hands on, tattooing a model from start to finish with your instructor watching and guiding you through it. At the same time, you get to watch her demonstrate her tattoo skills on clients. I seriously question how beginners without a hands on training can get right into permanent make up without guidance. Cutting and needling into skin while being consistent takes practice and knowledge.nnIn addition, I took the class with my girlfriend (mom of 4 kids, owner of a dry cleaner shop wanting to change her career at 40). She left the class feeling confident and ready to start her new journey as well. This was her first class EVER in beauty and it set the tone. With two unfortunate courses then taking this great one with Melba. You bet I was grateful and HAPPY! So if you’re considering a career change. Look no further. This course will make it ALL WORTH the investment and time. It’s one of the BEST life changing experiences.
After following Melba on Instagram for over a year, I finally made an appointment to get my brows micro bladed. From my first session to my follow up, I was extremely impressed with Melba’s professionalism, her artistry to take my brows from awful to beautiful. Melba listened to what I wanted, and made sure that I was comfortable during each session. Also, the salon was very clean. Between my initial session and my follow up, Melba began offering permanent eyeliner. I made an appointment to get the eyeliner, and couldn’t love it more. Thank you Melba for a great experience, beautiful brows, and eyeliner!
I wish I didn’t even have to give them one star. I got the Pow Pow brows which are extremely expensive and I look like Charlie Chaplin. They shaved off my existing brows without even asking m and now it looks like Someone drew my brows with a permanent marker. When I went back for the touch up the second girl who was doing acted in shock when she saw me and said, “hmmm, let me try and fix this.” Then I was charged again. They are patchy- super dark in some places and gray in others. I have gone to other places to see if someone can fix them and they said I have to wait until they lighten up but agree that Blume messed up. One place said they are always having to fix Blume mistakes
Don’t be deceived by the good reviews DO NOT waste your time and money at this place, it’s a complete rip-off. The quality of their services does not reflect their higher than average prices.nnI paid $550 for microblaiding for my boyfriend as a Christmas present. He wasn’t pleased with the results at all, his brows didn’t come out as we had expected, but after the first session it was already too late to do anything about it. They look far from natural, they look boxy, even after the “perfecting retouch” which was an additional $150 and which by the way they never care to mention that it was an additional charge. When I set up my appointment over the phone they quoted me at $500 for the microblading and told me they had a special promotion for the month of December which was $100 off for the holidays. Turns out they left some information out and they refused to honor their initial quote arguing that the total cost was $650 minus the $100 for the promotion. Again, this was never mentioned when I called to set up the appointment, on their confirmation email/text messages, the day the service was performed or when we came back 6 weeks later for the retouch. It wasn’t until we were outside of the establishment that one of the employees run outside to notify us that we had a $150 balance!!!nnDuring the first appointment I had a remaining balance of $100 on my gift card which I intended to use as gratuity for the artist. I was told I couldn’t use that for gratuity so we had to take more money out of our pocket to tip her.nnSince I didn’t want that money to go to waste I decided to get a pedicure, a manicure and wax my brows which came up to $105. For that amount I would expect a decent service, but instead I got got the most terrible pedicure I’ve ever had in my life. I specified I wanted French tip and the lady painted the whole nail white. I clarified that was not what I wanted but she ignored my request. I didn’t want to make it a big deal since I was already annoyed with everything else. My eyebrows were uneven and she left them extremely thin when I had only asked for a clean up. Had they mentioned there was an additional charge for the retouch I would’ve save the $100 on my gift card to pay for it.nnDo yourself a favor and go somewhere else. I don’t know about the rest of their artists but Sandy was not exactly the best and Christine the manager was extremely unprofessional and rude to us. I was considering doing their lip blush, but after this disappointing experience we would not be returning to this establishment and would not recommend it to anyone.
I just finished my 3 day training for advanced powder brows permanent makeup with Melba. I cannot say enough amazing things about this course. I would put Melba up against anyone around the country for this training, yes, she is the best there really is. She combines years and years of extensive training and courses that she has taken into one comprehensive class for us. I finished my training Wednesday and was ready to perform powder combination brows on not one but two clients on Friday, and they came out flawless. Melba’s course is hands on and intense, and worth every penny. She is patient, informative, and helpful. I trust that I can continue to go back to her for any assistance or help that I may need in the future. She is the most generous and kind person, not only did she gain my trust to teach me how to create the perfect brows for my clients, she also gained my business for all my future manicures and pedicures. I will make the not so convenient drive from where I live to Prairieville to be treated by the Blume ladies. I love this Blume family!
