Ascension Parish Court House

Was subpoenaed to court today at 9 am. I had a question about the individual I had to come to court for NOT being present due to a conflicting court date and what the individual could do or would have to do because of this. The officer outside of the courtroom instructed me to ask the DA inside of the courtroom. I walked in at 8:40 am in order to get this question answered by them I walked up to the 3 of these women looking though papers and gossiping amongst themselves and the police officers. I stated “the individual I had to come to court for is at court in Orleans parish currently so I wanted to know how that works or what to do”... a lady with a Gonzales police department jacket on stated “go sit down and when they call his name the judge will dismiss you from your subpoena” mind you she didn’t even look me in the eye and the other ladies didn’t chime in for my clarification either.nI say and waited until 9:30 when the judge decided to walk in. They began calling names out and the people who didn’t answer present in the court were issued bench warrants. I raised my hand, you know what a normal person would deem as a polite way to inquire about something, to get my question answer by Judge Lambert and she then told me “I don’t answer questions from the audience. Put your hand down”nAt that point I walked out, and was stopped by the officer who initially couldn’t help me. He then went up and asked my question for me and I was told that the individual would need to bring proof of his other court date.nnI say ALL OF THIS to say that if you don’t or CANNOT professionally do your job by just answering a damn question you’re in the wrong profession. Situations such as this is why people have ZERO respect for the judicial system and it’s smaller counterparts.

Fair and balanced justice system, just a little slow at times.
