I love this library! What a gift to have this wonderful space and place. The staff are so friendly and very helpful - going out of their way to help and answer any questions. The resources are amazing and I am happy to see people of all ages coming here. To see children so happy and excited about learning is so inspiring! I love that families come together here and encourage their children to explore and read and learn. Also: Quills is an added bonus!

I really appreciate the curbside book service that has been provided during the pandemic. It has brought me a lot of joy during this time.

Great certain times of the day. As others have said the open floor plan provides no sound protection from rambunctious children. Lovely facility with a great maker space. There is a wonderful kitchen area but unfortunately you can not book a time in it. All the librarians are wonderfully knowledgeable and helpful so don't be afraid to ask for help.

I love libraries. I have worked in them, studied in them, and I revel in the fact that I get to share that experience with my daughter. Unfortunately, the folks at this branch are just about as sour as is possible to be. I’ve had several negative experiences with the staff, and take serious issue with the asinine layout of the kids section (who puts a slide in the middle of the library?), but usually it’s still a decent place to go. Today, however, I decided we won’t even bother going back.nnMy toddler is usually sweet and quiet. She’s getting her 2 year molars, and struggling a little bit. Today she cried in the library, and as I was holding her and attempting to calm her we were physically intimidated by a security guard. In the library. He hovered over us while I rocked my daughter, not saying a word. All the while, other kids were yelling and running up and down the slide, jumping off of the furniture, etc. Uncomfortable as could be, I asked if there was a problem. He responded that he was just trying to figure out why it was so noisy, all the whole glaring at my 23 month old. My friend responded that she fell down and was just a little upset. The security guard then made further comments that she was making and awful lot of noise and he wanted to know what was going on. Then he stormed off. It was the most bizarre, hostile interaction I’ve ever had in a place that is supposed to be all about community.nnToddlers have fits; parents do their best to comfort them, and sometimes it takes more than ten seconds to successfully achieve that. Hiring professional bullies to intimidate mothers is an absolute disgrace. Shame on you, LFPL. An ounce of professionalism and courtesy towards your patrons would go a long way, and you consistently come up short.

A breathtaking modernist architectural jewel for the city of Louisville. A rich and vibrant space with an abundance of light. Wide selection of books, media, and laptop checkouts. Fast and free WiFi, even a coffee shop. There's a kitchen for cooking classes, and a spectacular children's area that will make children love reading and exploring. 10/10.
