Kaiser Permanente Douglasville Medical Office

4.1.21 Update. This office called me yesterday and coordinated a time for a new visit just 2 days after this incident.nnI just had such a disappointing experience with this office. I mistakenly thought my daughter's appointment was at 2 pm, I arrived at 2 pm, and probably by the time I got my daughter out of the car and in front of the check-in desk it was 2:02 pm. The front desk lady was very nice and we had a long conversation which distracted her from checking me in. I get checked in and I sit in the lobby, 45 minutes go by and she says she is going to call the nurse or someone to see what the hold up is. They inform her that I was checked in after the 15 minute grace period and therefore they closed my appointment. My appointment was actually at 1:50, not 2:00 (that is a fact that is not the office's fault) BUT on my receipt, it says I paid my fee at 2:06 pm so therefore I was 1 minute past the 15 minutes grace period! The only reason why it took a while to check me in is because of how chatty the office lady and I were. I am not complaining about her, there were no other patients waiting to be checked in so it's not like she or I realized there was a rush. I also understand that companies have policies and that everyone's time is important but what was so upsetting is that in the back someone knew I had checked in and was waiting to be seen, why did no one bother to inform me my appointment was canceled? I believe it's because they didn't want to tell me I was 1 minute past the grace period because then they would feel ridiculous for canceling the appointment over a minute and instead allowed way more time to lapse knowing then that there would be no way to squeeze me in. I think what is also so disappointing is that because my daughter's doctor is a great doctor he never wants to rush appointments, he's always running over and it normally takes 30 minutes past her appointment to be seen by him. That's okay I'm not going to complain because I appreciate he never makes anyone feel rushed, but knowing that I imagine that whoever makes the decision in the back saw my 1-minute late check-in as their opportunity to get back on track for their day. I bet I arrived in perfect timing for the nurse to come to get us because I do remember seeing a mom and two kids walk out of the back around 2:30 so perhaps had just wrapped up an appointment with the doctor. As a full-time stay-at-home mom who also has a full-time job it was a huge inconvenience for this to happen. I spent 1 hour in drive time and 1 hour sitting in the doctor's office waiting to be seen. This was supposed to be my daughter's 6 month check-up, now because of the doctor's limited schedule, she won't be seen by him till 8 months. That's the hardest part, to now worry that what if there is something wrong with my baby that @ 6 months could be addressed if discovered but now having to wait till 8  months causes complications. My daughter's doctor is great, I'm just so disappointed in whoever's call it was to just let me sit in the waiting area for almost an hour, if not for the front desk lady calling it could have been two hours. I wished I was someone who stood up for myself because that wasn't okay and I should have made it clear while I was there.

I had a scheduled appointment on 7/20/2020, I was called 2hrs. prior to the appointment and was told that Dr. McDaniels would be out of the office until the following Wednesday, after rearranging my day. I scheduled an appointment at the same facility (Douglasville) for the following week 7/27/2020 at 2:00. After checking in with the nurse I still had to wait for someone to return from lunch at 3:15 to have lab work done. I couldn’t wait an hour. I never have this problem at other facilities.

Great staff especially Betty in the lab. It's nice to encounter people these days that take the time to acknowledge you and just to go out of their way to be kind. That is what I get every time I see Betty. Kaiser is very lucky to have someone like that on staff.

They are just slow. I am a strong believer on time management. If you tell me a time for my appointment I will be on time. If I give you a time I will be somewhere then you can believe I will be on time. Appointment set for 4p . Got called back twice cause somehow they forgot they already checked blood pressure and vitals. So twice called back and then sent back to wait in the waiting room. 4: 30 finally called back for the 3rd time. And the doctor finally came in at 4:44pm. I have no patience.

I had an appointment today and it was an excellent experience. The young lady at the reception desk was helpful and pleasant . The doctor Ms.Tamar Jackson was excellent, pleasant, and very professional . The lad tech Ms. Betty was so sweet she even gave hugs to all patient's and welcomed me to kasier. I couldn't ask for better service and a better team. I'm so glad I choose this office and I am very pleased with kasier Permanente as my health coverage. Douglasville office keep up the good work and excellent service.
