Honestly, it’s a nice walk, I haven’t done the tour yet and judging by the helpfulness of the staff this time around don’t know if I would. dogs aren’t allowed on half of the trails of and when you ask the “guides” for help to where you can walk their answer is “not up here”. No pointing you to where you can go even though the sign says “7 miles of rustic trails”. For a place that literally makes it’s business off guests coming here I would suggest you might be a little more friendly and helpful instead of being so focused on keeping people without tickets out of the restricted areas. We got into the restricted zone because we’re looking for the dog approved trails and honestly by not being helpful It just entices people to do exactly what you don’t want them to do and that’s walk on the boardwalk with their dog.

Interesting artifacts of Thomas Jefferson's life. Huge vegetable garden. Important example of slave life in our nation's history. Plenty of shade on hot days, helpful guides. Self-guided tour using online resources and QR codes throughout the mansion. You’ll pass a cemetery for descendants on the walk up to the mansion.

The place was beautiful. The staff was friendly and helpful. The 8 minute video is not worth watching. The walk from the visitor center to the main house is all up hill (but beautiful!). Recommend checking out the cafe and enjoying a coffee or wine and some local chocolate. The ladies working the cafe were a hoot.

Wonderful place. Amazing contrast between the absolutely amazing green ans the most blue sky full of fluffy white clouds. You can walk around the entire house, and know a little more of the life style of such important person in the history of the republic.nI recommend you to visit Monticello as soon as you can, i just can't wait to be there again.

Cold and windy day but staff was on hand and super helpful.nnThis was a huge bucket list stop for me as Jefferson is a true America icon and Father of America. Really cool to see how innovative his home was back in the day.nnThe sheer history that has been preserved is astounding. Love it!!!nnWill visit again in warmer weather to walk the grounds.
