Loved visiting here today! Daniel was so informative, we could have listened to him speak all day. I should have asked him if he sold any of the arrows or other things he makes, they were that good! The blacksmith and the guy making the buckets and barrels were very good also. I loved how the three of them spoke to the all of us visitors, asked if we had questions, and retold historical stories, and explained what they were doing.nThe glass house... they were not that great. We were so interested in seeing the glass works and learning a bit about it but they were not interested in speaking to us at all. In fact, they spoke to no one other than each other the entire time. The lady in the gift shop part was very kind though.
It was a great place to see where the artifacts from Jamestown was discovered.
It was an amazing way to explore the history of our country with our kids. The live exhibits were really well done and made history come alive. I also enjoyed the indoor museum. It was a great experience for the whole family.
Simply an amazing area. Full of history and interesting information. Very friendly and knowledgable staff. Clean, well maintained facilities. Take sometime to walk the grounds. Easy to navigate, The Island Road/Drive is wonderful. Pair with a drive on the Colonial Parkway to Yorktown and it is a day well spent.
It was definitely worth a visit to Jamestown/Yorktown. Plan on 2 days to be able to see everything at a leisurely pace. A lot of walking in the outdoors. Be sure to take the guided tour to revamp your history knowledge and then venture off on your own for an afternoon by the river. Friendly staff and very clean environment. Souvenir shop and good food.
