New Point Comfort Natural Area Preserve

Beautiful spot. Great for kayaking and SUP. Bring water shoes. Oyster and broken glass abound in the launch area. Once you are away from the launch it's very pretty. Great spot to explore. Fairly compact area if you stay by the launch and sit on the observation deck and watch wildlife or fish. If you are a paddler or boater you can explore the various marshes and the beautiful sugar sand beach just to the SE. Low tide can be VERY low. Green Flys in the summer bite. It can be magic when you have it all to yourself. There are duck blinds for hunting so use caution if it is duck season. Classic Chesapeake Bay life.

It's beautiful out here! I wish they had put the observation deck somewhere closer, the lighthouse is soooo far away...the zoom on my DSLR camera came in handy, cell phone wouldn't get a good enough shot. I like the information signs on the deck. Keep an eye out for osprey & bald eagles. There is a huge nest in a dead tree at about 9 o'clock when you're looking at the lighthouse. Very peaceful here!

Stunningly beautiful views. History buffs...there is an informational plaque that tells the history of the lighthouse. You can't get to the lighthouse but the pier offers great fishing as well as fantastic scenery. Definitely worth a visit.

Came by on my lunch hour. No one was here. Great place for some alone time to think and reflect.

So quiet and serene! A great reprieve from the hectic pace of life.
